Samsung's S25 series chips will be exclusively supplied by Qualcomm
According to media reports, the latest news shows that Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S25 series smartphones will be entirely powered by Qualcomm processors because its own Exynos 2500 processors are unable to be supplied due to poor yield and power consumption performance of the 3nm process.
Qualcomm may become the only processor supplier for the Galaxy S25 series, while in the previous generation Galaxy S24, Qualcomm's supply ratio was only 40%. Guo Mingchi also predicted that the price of the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 processor based on Qualcomm's self-developed Oryon CPU core will increase by 25-30%, which will enable Qualcomm to benefit from the increase in Samsung's Galaxy S25 processor order share.
Samsung's Exynos 2500 processor was originally seen as the key to reducing reliance on Qualcomm processors, and its preliminary CPU and GPU test results even showed better performance than Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
However, the yield problem of Samsung's 3nm process seems to have become an obstacle. Industry experts pointed out that the main problem of Samsung's 3nm process is its poor yield and power consumption performance, and its performance is 10-20% lower than TSMC's 3nm.
